Chongquing A Panda in Chongquing Zoo

Chongqing is an independent Municipality that used to be part of Sichuan Province. It is the most important port on the upper section of the Yangzi Jiang, and is the largest and fastest-growing urban centre in the world. In 2007, over 30 million people live in the Greater Chongqing area and it has become the most important centre for modern business and trade in the heart of China.

Apart from business people, most visitors come to Chongqing as the beginning or end of a river cruise along the most famous part of the Yangzi Jiang (rivers). The 3-Gorges Dam Project to make electricity out of the power of moving water has made it possible for much bigger ships to travel along the Yangzi, and this has been an important part of the growth of Chongqing.
