Chevrolet Unveils New Grand Sport Corvette with Enhanced LS6 Engine
Detroit, MI – Chevrolet has introduced the new Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, blending the best elements of its acclaimed sports car lineup. The Grand Sport aims for a balance between performance and accessibility, offering a less extreme but equally potent experience compared to the Z06 and ZR1 models.
New LS6 V8 Engine Powers the Range
Alongside the Grand Sport, Chevrolet is debuting a brand-new 6.7-liter LS6 V8 engine, which will be the flagship powerplant for the entire Corvette range. The LS6 produces 542 horsepower and 705 lb-ft of torque, elevating the performance level across the lineup, including the Stingray and the electrified Grand Sport X.

Engine Details and Chassis Enhancements
According to Mike Kociba, Chevrolet’s V8 Engine Subdivisional Manager, the Grand Sport’s engine features a 95mm intake plenum, a tunnel ram intake with high-speed collectors, and a new lubrication system, “pushing ‘409 cubic inches of pneumatic hammer fury’ through the exhaust pipes.” The Grand Sport utilizes an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and a suspension with magnetic chassis control, drawing on elements from higher-tier Corvette models.

Performance Packages Available
Chevrolet offers various performance packages, starting with the Sport package, which includes Z06-derived brakes, a firmer suspension, and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. The Track package further modifies the chassis setup, incorporating carbon-ceramic brakes, Cup 2 tires, and aerodynamic elements such as a large rear spoiler and a carbon fiber splitter.

Driving Experience
The Grand Sport delivers a direct and consistent driving experience, building upon the foundation of the Stingray. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.75 seconds. Performance upgrades, particularly with the higher-tier packages, noticeably enhance the Grand Sport’s capabilities.
