Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution FQ-400: A Rally Legend Returns
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X FQ-400, launched in 2010, represents the pinnacle of the Lancer’s performance history, directly derived from its WRC racing heritage. This limited-edition variant paid homage to the legendary Evolution VI, boasting a staggering 403 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque from its 2.0-liter turbocharged MIVEC engine.
Key Features and Modifications
The FQ-400 featured a host of aggressive design elements, including extensive ventilation on the hood, a lightweight composite front bumper with the signature ‘Jet Fighter’ grille, and carbon fiber accents. Further enhancements included additional lighting, high-intensity HID headlights, a lowered front stance, and aerodynamic components such as side skirts, a rear diffuser with a carbon fiber spoiler, and a roof-mounted vortex generator.

Performance and Transmission
This powerful engine was paired with a close-ratio five-speed manual transmission. Mitsubishi opted against utilizing the Twin Clutch SST automatic transmission due to tolerance and reliability concerns. The car achieved blistering acceleration, capable of hitting 0-100 km/h in under four seconds.

Interior and Chassis
Inside, the FQ-400 offered a sporty cockpit with Recaro bucket seats and a carbon fiber shift knob. The chassis was further enhanced with lightweight 18-inch alloy wheels and Toyo Proxes R1R tires, complemented by Alcon brakes. The car’s legacy is deeply rooted in the Lancer’s successful WRC career, earning four driver titles and one manufacturer title between 1996 and 1999.
